Loxdale English Centre & Swedish Folk School Nutrition Course
Loxdale is a private English language school in Brighton, and has been at the current site for over 40 years. It offers language courses to adults (18+), young people (16+) and under 18s, and is accredited by the British Council. Recent inspections by the British Council found Loxdale to be in the top 8% of all accredited English teaching centres in the UK.
As well as general English courses, Loxdale is not like most other language schools as it offers students the opportunity to individualise their learning and courses, with interactive and specialist programmes alongside their language studies, in order to increase knowledge as well as improve their communication in English.
Loxdale English Centre and Swedish Folk School approached Optimal Nutrition to deliver the Nutrition course to students. The outline of the course explores the fundamentals of nutrition, how to support our general health while understanding the impact of science and nutrition on our bodies. We also looked at the impact of food on mood and energy, how to eat to improve digestion and support immune health, and a look at micronutrients as well as interactive elements to encourage play through learning.
Feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive. Post-course surveys indicated that 100% of students enjoyed the course, and when asked what they liked about the course, student feedback included:
“I learned a lot of things about promoting my health.”
“Everything!”
“The information about nutrition was useful”
“She was great! Her course was very constructive!
“The teacher is really good! She has a really good structure during the lectures! I would love to have her again”
“Very well-founded teaching; lots of useful specific vocabulary; good balance between theory and practice”
“It was fun to cook some healthy food”
“I liked the interactive parts and when we used real foods, like trying to sort water amount and making energy balls. I liked that we had a theme for each lesson.”
If you are a Director of Studies, or Course Coordinator for education establishments and would like to consider nutrition courses for students, to increase learning about the power of nutrition to support health, please get in touch for an informal meeting or chat. I look forward to finding out more about your students and school
